Webmaster Tools

You are just starting to build your web site and have visited many web sites looking for ideas. Sound familiar? Yes, we've all been there. (In my case, I still like to go on 'excursions'.)

One of my first questions when I find some really interesting 'bells and whistles' is, "Great! Now, how do I do that"? Often it is a matter of learning where to look.

There are many wonderful resources available. These are a few of my personal favorites. These are the sources I look to first.

Bravenet: They have many wonderful tools; from guest books to buttons, to meta tags. From the very first time I visited this site, I found their generators easy to use. Their assistance is wonderfully prompt and helpful. Membership is free. To see Bravenets' form mail in action, it is located on the Notification Page

Boogie Jack's Web Depot: Booj has tutorials, free graphics and backgrounds. Lots of wonderful help. This is the first place I go when I'm having difficulty with something. Subscribe to his free newsletter. I can't say enough good things about Booj, I think he's great!

GUI Stuff: Lots of free stuff. Graphical interfaces to lots of other neat stuff to put a little jazz on your pages.

Dynamic Drive: If scripts are more your 'thing' this is the place to go! Bunches of them! Fairly straight forward and easy to understand.

JavaScriptSource: At the time of this writing they have 2006 free scripts available. From calendars to miscellaneous they have it. Easy to use too! The great thing about these scripts is that if you have difficulty getting one to work, you can drop the author of the script a note and quickly fix the problem.

ScriptFx: A whole page of generators to save you a lot of time and frustration.

The Newbie Club: This is a wonderful place where the internet and your computer are explained in easily understandable language. I wish I'd found it sooner.

Download an evaluation copy of "Winzip" here. Another 'unzipper' that you can download free. The "Newbie Club" brought this one to my attention. The Unzip Wizard.
